How to Unclog Canon wide format printers PF-03, PF-04, PF-05 Using Magic Inkjet Flush.
Intro...
If your Canon iPF6100 or other wide format printer has been left unused for some time? You may get a message like this... "Execute printhead cleaning. If this message is still displayed, replace printhead L. etc..."

This error is likely caused by an ink clog which can usually be dissolved using Magic Inkjet Flush, and certainly worth a try if you consider that each new print head can cost you $400 - $600 and as most have dual print heads, if you need to replace both it can be very expensive!

How do I know I have an ink clog?
When an inkjet printer has been left unused for some time, usually banding or blanks will start to appear on your prints. This is usually caused when ink trapped inside the print head has become too viscous to exit the tiny inkjet nozzles.

Inkjet printers should not be switched off until the printer has gone silent and the print head has returned to its normal parked position. That way the underside of the print head will be sealed properly at the docking station. If not the tiny nozzles will be exposed to the air and ink trapped inside print head begins to to dry out. As the ink thickens, it will no longer be able to exit the tiny inkjets so blanks will start to appear on your prints. Underside of the docking station are purge tubes which you will hear priming the ink on start up.

However, these more expensive wide format Canon printers (which use the PF-03, PF-04 and PF-05 print heads) have built-in calibration sensors which detect any variations in the print heads. They can also measure the density levels of the inks and make any necessary adjustments to return the calibration to the original factory settings. But in the case of an ink clog if dried ink is unable to exit the 30,000+ tiny nozzles of the print head, sensors will pick this up and print head errors will appear telling you to replace the print head!

So assuming normal print head cleaning is unable to flush the clogged print head you will need to replace the expensive print head. But why not unclog it yourself manually using warm Magic Inkjet Flush.

Let me explain how...

First you will need to remove the print head.
Here is a useful video to help you.

Special Magic Inkjet Flush Kit for Canon PF-03, PF-04, PF-05

The special "Magic Inkjet Flush Kit" for Canon Wide Format Printers includes a 30ml Bottle of Concentrated "Magic Inkjet Flush" plus an 100ml bottle of ready to use MIF.

Plus... A "Dr.EpSun Refill Tool" with a special tip which can be used to directly flush the print head. It has also been designed so you can remove ink directly from the ink tanks, so that you can refill the print head with the correct colour ink after flushing. This saves time

These brand new print heads can be positioned in either the L or R (left/right) position until they have been filled with ink. However if you are flushing a print head you should be able to use it as a spare in either position.

You will also get special "EXTRA WIDE Magic Pillows."

"A Magic Applicator" and "An Ink Priming Pump."

Simply pour a little magic Inkjet Flush into a plastic cup and warm in microwave oven.

Check Electrical Contacts are Clean
On the video you will see the electrical contacts inside the printer, it is important that they are clean and free or ink or dirt. Also where they make contact on the actual print head.
If dirty use alchol and cotton wool to clean them.

Basically, check the PDF below and inject Warm Magic Into print head. You can also flush completely using the Dr.EpSUN Refill Tool injecting WARM MAGIC INKJET FLUSH into the tops of the print head.
